EXCOMMUNICATION OF SSPX BISHOPS REVOKED
FROM THE VATICAN
Prot. N. 126/2009
Congregation for Bishops
Decree
By letter dated 15 December 2008 addressed to His Eminence, Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos, President of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, Bishop Bernard Fellay, on his behalf and on behalf of the other three bishops consecrated on 30 June 1988, seeking to new lifting latae sententiae excommunication formally pronounced by Decree of the Prefect of this same Congregation for Bishops dated July 1, 1988. In the above-mentioned letter, Bishop Fellay, among other things, stated: "We are always steadfast in our determination to remain Catholic and to place all our strength at the service of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which is the Roman Catholic Church. We filialy accept her teaching. We firmly believe in the primacy of Peter and in its prerogatives and that is the reason why the present situation makes us suffer all the more. "
His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI - touched with fatherly compassion over the spiritual difficulty manifested by those concerned by the sanction of excommunication and confident that the commitment they expressed in the above quoted letter of sparing no effort to go further in the necessary discussions with the Authorities of the Holy See concerning the issues still pending, and thus of being able to reach quickly a full and satisfactory solution of the problem raised at the origen - has decided to reconsider the canonical standing of Bishops Bernard Fellay, Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, Richard Williamson and Alfonso Galarreta with respect their episcopal consecrations.
This act expresses the desire to consolidate reciprocal confidence in our dealings , to intensify and give stability to the relations of the Fraternity Saint Pius X with the Apostolic See. This gift of peace, at the end of the Christmas celebrations, is also intended to be a sign for the promotion of unity in charity in the uniersal Church, and thereby to remove the scandal of the division.
Wishing that this step be followed without delay by the full communion with the Church of all the Society of Saint Pius X, in testimony of a true fidelity and genuine recognition of the Magisterium and of the authority of the Pope by the proof of visible unity.
According to faculties expressly conceded to me by the Holy Father Benedict XVI, by virtue of the present Decree, I remit the censure of excommunication latae sententiae, pronounced from Bishops Bernard Fellay, Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, Richard Williamson and Alfonso de Galarreta from and, as of this day, I likewise declare void of juridical effects the Decree published at the time
Rome, from the Congregation for Bishops, this 21stday of January 2009.

Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops

It should have been expected that the Jewish community would howl in protest, and indeed, it has. They use as their pretext comments Bp. Williamson has made regarding

"The Holocaust"

, the third rail of dialog with the Jews. As usual, that community has wielded their customary cudgel of "Anti-Semitism" to call for the repudiation of Bp. Williamson's commentary. Whenever this sacred cow of

"The Holocaust"

comes up, the Jewish community, recognizing that it cannot stand the scrutiny of logical analysis, immediately resorts to
ad hominem, attacking the character of the questioner and not the validity of his arguments. So afraid are they of open debate on the subject, they have subverted democracy in at least three countries, France, Germany and Canada, where it is a crime punishable by imprisonment openly to question

"The Holocaust"

. One must wonder why they so fear open discussion.
They add to this stratagem the appeal to Vatican II and the dialog with the Vatican regarding Catholic-Jewish relations. It was the writer's hope that Pope Benedict XVI will show the same steadfastness shown by President Reagan when he announced his intention to visit the cemetery in Bitburg. However, since Pope Benedict has caved in to these latest Jewish demands, this writer predicts that at some time in the future this Pope or his successors will have to deal with Jewish demands that the Gospels be re-written to remove all negative references to them. Their strategy has always been to gain any little concession, then use it to expand their demands, assuming that once they have gained a concession, subsequent ones will be harder to resist. We urge Pope Benedict XVI to ignore these howls of protest, and restore the ancient and proper Catholic position of striving for the conversion of the Jew, once the chosen people, to Catholicism.
There is good reason why the Jews, once the chosen people, have been persecuted throughout time and in most nations. God's promise to them was not unconditional. He promised to bless them only if they heeded His commandments. The reader is direced to the Torah, Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28 and to 3 Kings 9. When God speaks once, He is to be heeded. When He speaks twice, He is to be taken seriously. When He speaks three times, look out, He really means it. And He gave His warning to the Jews three times in the Old Testament, their Bible. After the Crucifixion, He gave the Jew 40 years (the same length of time that generation of Jews which most fully experienced His graces wandered in the desert and, all but two, perished there because of their disobedience) to repent and accept Jesus as their Savior. They did not, and He destroyed their temple and scattered them among the nations. It is noteworthy that God used the same instrument, the Romans, to do this that the Jews used to crucify Jesus. Then He established the Roman Catholic church, and allowed the Romans to cause it to flourish. Vatican II can change Catholic doctrine, but it cannot change history or the word of God. Jesus said,"No man comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14, 6). "No man" is all inclusive.
Listen closely, and you will hear the murmurings that will soon turn into the howls of "anti-Semitism" because of these comments. It is as predictable as the rising of the sun. The crucifixion continues.
